castle bed in wall

 The construction of the bed,
First you have to cut the hole in the wall, then build the frame above the stairs

We had to build it a little higher then what we wanted so people could go down the steps without hitting there head on the frame of the bed.  SO we had to build steps to get up to the bed.

if you have steps then you need rails.  My husband wanted to take it a few more steps then just rails.  lol

now comes the siding, doors, windows and railing.

Paint time!

Now to make it look more like a castle.  I was going to do the blocks but decided to just faux paint it.

Now for the tops
pic's of the steps on the inside

steps from the rails

window from the side.

here is the bed on the inside of the wall

Wasn't even finished and they had to come stay the night.  lol   We put a tv on the shelf

I think they really like it!

This is as far as we have gotten.  Still need to put a door on, and lots of molding left.

Tiger print end table

I had an end table that wasn't the prettiest thing in the world.  But thought it would be cute to do a tiger print on it.  I thought what the heck.  I just did a zebra print dresser.  It can't look worse then what it already does.  lol

So this is what it looked like before I started with the strips.  I was going to paint it.  but thought hey the color is really close.  So I thought I would just paint stripes on it and see how it looks.

After putting a few stripes on, I wasn't so sure this thing was going to turn out very well.

Then I went over the drawer and on the bottom shelf.  It started looking a little better.  I did a second coat to the top and it looked alot better after that.

I added a few stripes on each side, stepped back and thought hmm this just might look ok.  : )

I'm pretty happy with the results.  I think it looks pretty good!  Check out my other blogs for the jungle theme mural, Zebra print dressers, and castle bed (with bed in the wall)

Zebra print furniture for the jungle theme playroom

I have always wanted to do a zebra print dresser but never had anywhere to put it. Since I did the mural in my grandbabies playroom a jungle theme. Now is the time! Here is the dresser before I re-furbished it. It was a nice little dresser but didn't fit the room anymore.

I started out taking out the drawers and painting the frame black.

I pulled out all the drawers and painted them white, then started the zebra stripes.  I used a object I had laying around that had zebra stripes on it to give me a prop to go by of how to put the stripes on.

I found that it was easier to put the drawers in the dresser so I can bring them down to the next drawer to make it look more realistic.

Now to add the knobs.  I took the gold knobs off and spray paint them all black.

Here is the finished project.  Hope you enjoyed.  I am really happy with the way it turned out.

toy boxes

Between me and my new husband we have 5 grandbabies.  There parents wanted my husband to build them a toy box for Christamas.  They figured he builds houses for a living he could make a toy box for them.

So we talked about it and figured.  Hey kewl idea plus this just might save a little money with having 5 grandbabies.  lol

So We bought the plywood and he got started.  He built the frame of the box and this is what it looked like.  We needed some paint.

Each one of my grandbabies are into something a little different so we figured we would personalize ea. one with what they really like.   For the boys we painted the tops black and the rest of the box black.

Here is my grandson Jorden's  He LOVES Teenage Ninja Turtle

Then My oldest Grandson LOVES superhero's  So this is what we did for him.

Now for the girls we decided we would paint the tops black and the box white.  My oldest grandaughter LOVES repunzel and says she is a princess.  So this is her's

so we decided with my husband's grandaughter to do Fairies, that she loves so much. He wanted to frame this one out to bring it out a little.

Now for my youngest grandaughter.   She LOVES Minnie Mouse.  We done that the same way, we framed this one out just like the one above.  I drew out the minnie mouse with pencil, then started outlining & painted the background and minnie in.

so it is starting to come together.  Now for the name.  She wanted the minnie dress to be zebra and glitter in her name.

Now for all of them completely finished.  here they are!

We finally got them all finished 3 days before Christmas and they LOVE them!
